WELCOME TO FOEC
Friends of Elder Citizens, Inc, (FOEC) is A 501 (c) (3) non profit organization formed in 1979 and incorporated in 1981, administered by a Board of Directors elected by the open membership. Public board meetings are held the third Thursday of every month at the Palacios Senior Center located at 705 Commerce Street in Palacios, Texas. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 5:15pm. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
We offer group and individual activities, health and safety education and hot nutritional meals to persons 60 years of age and older. (congregate and home delivered meals) FOEC operates programs to meet the needs of senior citizens in Matagorda and Jackson Counties for nutrition, transportation, recreation and socialization. Our "centers" are located in Palacios, Bay City and Edna, Texas.
FOEC's Mission is to "ensure that no person 60 years of age or older will be isolated or neglected, but remain a productive, independent member of the community". No person will be denied any service because he or she cannot or will not contribute, to the extent that funding is available.
FOEC provides transportation programs including to and from our senior centers, medical facilities and shopping. We also provide social services, counseling, exercise, recreational activities, day trips, telephone reassurance, health screening, and hot noon meals. Hot meals are delivered to qualified home-bound individuals five days per week in Palacios, Blessing, Edna, LaWard Vanderbilt, El Maton, and Sargent. Congregate meals are provided at each of our senior center facilities.
FOEC is funded by grants, contracts and contributions by the Texas Dept. of Aging for Jackson County, TXDOT, The Trull Foundation, United Way of Matagorda and Jackson Counties, and also the Counties of Matagorda & Jackson, local individuals and other clubs and organizations who are sincerely concerned with the welfare of our older citizens.
Friends of Elder Citizens services, programs, and our participants rely heavily upon the donations of the general public. Since 1979, contributions from the surrounding communities, people like yourself, have made it possible for us to continue quality services without interruption. Thank you for your genuine concern and continued support.
